A case study of apple seed and grape allergy with sensitisation to nonspecific lipid transfer protein.

چکیده
Lipid transfer proteins can be an important cause of allergy given their stability and high degree of protein sequence homology. We describe the case of a child who developed two separate episodes of anaphylaxis after consuming apple seed and grape, with evidence that nonspecific lipid transfer proteins may have been responsible for these reactions. Lipid transfer protein allergy should be considered when anaphylaxis is inconsistent, such as in patients who can tolerate fruit pulp but react to fresh whole fruit juices.

Peach allergy: different clinical profiles across Europe
Rosaceae fruit allergy is the most common food allergy in Europe in patients over 5 years of age. The two fruits most frequently involved are peach and apple. Different clinical phenotypes of peach allergy are observed across Europe in relation to different allergen sensitisation patterns to the peach allergens Pru p1 (Bet v 1 homologue), Pru p 3 (peach lipid transfer protein, LTP), and Pru p 4...
متن کاملClinical and laboratory investigation of oral allergy syndrome to grape.
Oral allergy syndrome (OAS) is occasionally observed following consumption of raw fruits in allergic adults. Since this phenomenon was commonly reported in Khorasan province of Iran; we intended to check if common diagnostic tests could be applied for differential diagnosis of OAS to grapes.IgE reactivity of 84 patients with OAS to grape and 34 patients with OAS to other fruits were analyzed by...

BACKGROUND In a recently performed survey with 4000 randomly selected persons, 68 (7.2 %) of 948 respondents reported intolerance and/or allergy-like symptoms to wine. The aim of this study was to analyze whether a real sensitization to wine proteins could be confirmed by diagnostic and/or immunological settings. FINDINGS For this purpose, 19 subjects with self-reported intolerance to wine of...

متن کاملIn Vitro Antifungal Activity of a Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) Seed Protein Homologous to Nonspecific Lipid Transfer Proteins.
A basic 9-kD protein was purified from seeds of radish (Raphanus sativus L.). The 43 amino-terminal amino acids show extensive sequence identity with nonspecific lipid transfer proteins from other plant species. The radish seed nonspecific lipid transfer protein-like protein inhibits the growth of several fungi in vitro.
